| Description | The record label itself is maroon with gold lettering, reading: "OKeh / Fox Trot / SOBBIN' BLUES / (Kassell-Burton) / KING OLIVER'S JAZZ BAND / 4906-A / GENERAL PHONOGRAPH CORPORATION, NEW YORK." This side, "Sobbin' Blues," was recorded on June 22, 1923, in Chicago by King Oliver's Jazz Band, a group that included Louis Armstrong on second cornet alongside King Oliver on cornet, Honoré Dutrey on trombone, Johnny Dodds on clarinet, Lil Hardin on piano, Bill Johnson on banjo/bass, and Baby Dodds on drums. The reverse side of this disc, Okeh 4906-B, contains "Sweet Lovin' Man," recorded by the same ensemble on the same date. |
