| Description | This is a ten-inch shellac disc issued on the OKeh label, catalog number 8261-A, presented in its original OKeh paper sleeve marked "OKeh, The Record of Quality." The label side visible reads: "Gut Bucket Blues (Armstrong), Fox Trot, Louis Armstrong and His Hot Five, Recorded in Chicago, Ill.," with "General Phonograph Corporation" printed beneath the OKeh logo, and matrix number 8261-A near the spindle hole. The reverse side of this disc carries "Yes! I'm in the Barrel," also by Louis Armstrong and His Hot Five. This recording was made on November 12, 1925, in Chicago, Illinois, with a personnel of Louis Armstrong on cornet, Kid Ory on trombone, Johnny Dodds on clarinet, Lil Hardin Armstrong on piano, and Johnny St. Cyr on banjo. The sleeve is illustrated with a decorative rope border and a small engraving of musical instruments, including a violin, banjo, and horn, along with printed promotional text describing OKeh's recording standards. |
