| Description | This is an Okeh Electric label ten-inch shellac disc, catalog number 8631. The label side visible reads "Skip the Gutter (Salta La Cuneta)" by Williams, credited to Louis Armstrong and His Hot Five, designated as a Fox Trot, with matrix number 400961 and take marking A-2, alongside the imprint "Made and Patented in U.S.A. Jan 21, 13 and OKeh Phonograph Corporation." This recording was made on July 5, 1928, in Chicago. The reverse side of this disc contains "Knee Drops," also recorded by Louis Armstrong and His Hot Five during the same 1928 Chicago sessions. The record is presented in its original Okeh sleeve printed with "OKeh, The Record of Quality" and an illustration of period instruments including a violin, drum, and sheet music. |
