Description

This is an Okeh Electric 78 rpm disc, catalog number 8609.

The label side visible reads "Sugar Foot Strut" (Pierce-Myers-Schwab), credited to Louis Armstrong and His Hot Five, identified as a Fox-Trot, with matrix number W400908 and the notation "Made and Patd in USA Jan 21 1913." The label also carries the printed instruction "For Best Results Use Okeh Needles."

This recording was made on June 28, 1928, in Chicago. 

The reverse side of this disc contains "A Monday Date," a composition by Earl Hines, further reflecting the close musical partnership between Armstrong and Hines during this era of small-group recordings for Okeh.

The record is housed in its original Okeh sleeve bearing the slogan "The Record of Quality" along with an illustration of a violin and other instruments, and promotional text praising Okeh's recording quality and roster of talent.
